This thread reminded me of Carbon's Golden Malted pancake flour, it is the best tasting waffles I've ever had this side of the Atlantic. Haven't had it in a long time. Just bought some on Amazon, unit price was $8 compared to $11 at Cost Plus. If anyone knows of another bricks and mortar store where they sell it for less, let me know. I'll keep ordering from Amazon until then.

Bad ones are pretty easy to make, too.

Yeah, somehow the next sentence didn't get posted. Most box recipes just call for added egg and milk. Point I was making is that homemade are easy without a box. What I posted was all that was needed besides egg and milk that box recipes require. I tried the just add milk box stuff and those pancakes were nasty.

Wait...what?? Who doesn't keep flour, sugar, and oil in their homes? Those are basic staples. Is this what the world has come to?

Dirt Grinder--go a few miles 'up the road' to Chattanooga and eat at the restaurant. Some of the best pancakes I've ever had.

Sounds like a plan. We go through there quite often on the way to/from South Carolina. I didn't know anything about the place until MagicShark mentioned it.

I know a lot of people who don't. People don't cook around here, except for microwaving frozen stuff or premade stuff from the grocery....

I have friends like this - they love when I plan the get togethers because they know I cook and bake! I have family members too, who can't boil water. C'est la vie, they are into things I'm not that jazzed about.
