I've known about this issue for some time and avoid fresh spinach, but now and then eat cooked spinach. This just came thru from one of my other health groups. If this does not belong here, please move it to where it would be more appropriate. thanks.

I once read about spinach being a superfood, and I ate so much of it over the next week or two, I ended up with a case of gout. At least, that's what my doctor told me.

We've been told that about so many foods, so many unknowing people. Thank goodness for all the latest info and the net for all the "confusing" info. One needs to research for themselves more and more. So many foods take us back to illnesses.
I recently discovered about a year ago how much I LOVE eating raw baby spinach leaves.
Basically every single day I eat them at least once. raw uncooked. Sometimes in a salad ... but most just munching on the leaves from a dish as I have breakfast lunch or dinner.
I by myself consume one of those Costco shoe box sized containers they sell of the organic raw baby spinach leaves. I am guessing a 2 lb container ?
I do not see myself stopping. plenty of great healthy vitamin goodness in it and I love the taste and ease of having it
In some people, eating a lot of high oxalate foods can cause kidney stones.
