Count me in as another who loves Cream of Wheat. It's one of my ultimate comfort foods that Mom used to make, right up there with meatloaf and mashed potatoes.
Mom would stir in some cinnamon when cooking, and I'd load it up with sugar and milk. So good!
I'm a fan of most hot cereals, but never liked grits. Dad would fry the grits up and eat them with butter and maple syrup on top.
I can't cook Cream of Wheat to save my life. It always ends up with lumps, no matter how careful I am. The instant kind is a pretty good substitute, but it's getting hard to find around here.
I loved the aroma and the flavor of it as a child, but I hated that it was so soupy. I wanted something with more oomph. Even though I've never eaten it as an adult, I still love smelling it.
I grew up on Cream of Wheat. I actually still enjoy a bowl of it, or old fashioned oatmeal with some biscuits and have even been known to enjoy that for my dinner, not just for breakfast.

You can make it quite thick by just lowering the amount of liquid (or increasing the COW)...

I love cream of wheat and it turns out perfectly for me and here is the secret you have to whisk it consistently to get it creamy and never let it sit . when it sits it gets thick . pour into bowl add sugar , butter and stir and wallah you have cream of wheat but boy it is getting exspensive too .
It will soon be time for us to get some more, too!
