Green Olives. Cooking wise, my mother was from the South and things like green olives just weren't on her radar. My family was at the beach when I was a kid, and my first taste of them was when a few came on the salad I had at the hotel restaurant. The next night, I asked for more of them on my salad, and the hotel kitchen brought me a salad with about 10 on them. I remember picking them off one by one and savoring them like they were delicious candy. I still love them.
Olives are one of those things I find most people either love or hate.
I remember in the late 70's i was a kid and we took a trip to the great meteor crater in Northern AZ, and I remember there was a restaurant near there that served "peanut butter pizza"..man it was so good..
Biscuits and gravy. Being a northerner, I had never tried this until I joined the Army. We were at Ft. Benning for basic training and I was on a work detail. One of my buddies had the task of gathering plates for us so we could eat after the work detail was finished. He asked me what I wanted and I said, "just get whatever, I'm hungry and just want to eat." He got me biscuits and gravy.
It was life changing in a great way. I never knew what I was missing out on for so many years.
I never had it until I was an adult, either, and ate it in Myrtle Beach.

Every time we walk past a display of olives in a store we slow waaaay down. If I didn't control her my wife would just start eating.

I love olive bars. The Whole Foods near my house has a beautiful olive bar I can’t just walk past. It is only $8.99/lb to mix and match as many varieties of olives as you want.

I just discovered a great olive bar in a store I don’t normally shop in. I am going to ogle the Kalamatas tomorrow. I might buy some too. My faves are Krinos brand Kalamatas.
I pick half the olives off my pizza and put them on my wife's. Love is like that.
