True, just wrap it in muslin or cheese cloth.

This sounds like something I want to try. There's a chuck roast in the freezer destined for beef stew.

That's a lot of trouble for a tiny piece of a star in a tiny portion of stew. I say just bite the bullet and put the amount of stars the recipe calls for into the whole stew. It's not going to ruin it, and it's not going to add an overwhelming flavor. It's just going to add another layer to the flavors.

Probably cardamom - Indian desserts very often feature cardamom...which is interesting because many of their savory foods have cinnamon.

I bet it is star Anise. Rice pudding is the first thing my daughter said when I mentioned it.

I love cardamom. I put green pods in my basmati rice and if I get one in my serving, I open it and sniff it like the wonderful aromatic thing it is. They should make cardamom perfume for me.

I'm going to try that!

I thought I was the only one with a cardamom obsession! Just made blueberry pistachio cardamom cookies, which were wonderful. Also make pistachio caradmom rose water energy balls.

I'm making chai tea right now using star anise and lots of green cardamom and will add extra powdered cardamom. Hey, there could be worse things to be addicted to, right?

Those green cardamom pods are very difficult to crack opne, though.

I put a little olive oil, about six green cardamom pods, a teaspoon of whole cumin seeds, and some salt, warm it up to release a little aroma and add rice and water and cook.

Cardamom and saffron go well together, too. The green cardamom pods open like magic after steaming in your rice. I feel like the cat with catnip; I want to roll around in the scent.
