I get them upstate New York and in Ontario, too. Great snack. Have never seen them for sale in NJ.

I don't think I saw american style cottage cheese overseas. Fresh cheese in the US (or at least in Texas) is very limited. All I see in stores is the tasteless cottage cheese (no, that's not a quark) and gummy like Philadelphia.
Fresh Farmers cheese is not available in San Antonio. I buy it in Houston, at the same grocery chain

I have eaten in Germany and Austria Hüttenkäse/cottage cheese .I like that one better than in Canada. But our Canadian cottage cheese pending on the brand is not too bad.

Oh! Oh! If we are talking Maine do not forget ployes!!! I so love them. I have seen them only very rarely outside of Maine. Even outside of Maine I have only seen them where there is a large Acadian population.
As a side note do people outside of Northern New England know Acadians exist?

Where I live now?
- Nothing.

Where I used to live?
- From Montreal (Quebec), the infamous poutine. I hate cheese curds so I won't eat it. (I'll eat the fries and gravy, though. )
- From Connecticut, New Haven pizza. I'd eat that 8 days a week.

grew up in Ireland; few things I can remake or buy here on East coast in America.

colcannon soup; its a twist on the classic dish colcannon but I prefer to eat it in soup format with mashed potatoes mixed in with kale or cabbage. a great hearty soup for winters.

bangers and mash; I need to get Irish sausages to make it very like my dish back home.

chips (French fries) covered by brown gravy. The bomb!
fish and chippers in newspaper sold by many chipper stores. so miss that. And the malt vinegar. awesome!
