Slow. I like to chew and savor my food. Those who look at me with disdain gotten used to eating fast, either from being in "high powered, speedy job environments", being in the military, or it's just something they did. Because of this, when eating out, I tend to break the etiquette of eating first even when others haven't gotten their food yet, and they've been fine with that. Also, to request a to-go container earlier than later.
As a slow eater, I hate going out to eat with fast eaters. I'm talking about social occasions, not times when somebody has to rush back to work - what's the hurry? I thought we were getting together to eat AND visit?
I've been (gently) trying to get my husband to slow down when we go out to eat too. I do almost always take some of my food home - maybe if I had the perfect slow-eating dining companion I'd finish my food one day.
well im a slow eater because of an attack years ago and my jaw has never been right since so I have to eat slow to keep from choking and a lot of people don't understand that and I also chop my food into tiny bites . I really don't like eating out as people sometimes stare cause im sure they think I eat like a child .
Slow, almost too slow. I'm usually half done when everyone else has cleaned their plate. I usually stop then cause I'm full or just so others don't have to wait on me.
Fast....you would think I'd gone hungry at some point...but that's not why. I think it's because I enjoy the taste of some things so much that I want to be able to finish it all, before I'm too full!
People who eat then food too fast and too much tend to have more higher blood presure, heartburn, and acid reflux. You body's digestive system requires food to be broken down chemically for food to pass through your stomach without producing a lot of gas which can cause bloatedness due to indigestion.
I've just naturally been a slow eater all my life, and I'm not able to eat large servings or more than I actually need. I've learned to be selective about who I choose to dine with because it makes me queasy to eat meals at the same table with people who are very fast eaters and/or pile their plate up so high it's spilling off the plate. I have to keep my eyes on my plate and not look around the table much if I'm with fast eaters because when I see people bolting their food down it makes me feel like I'm dining with starving animals competing in a vicious feeding frenzy and it literally makes me gag.
