I’m flying to California to have Thanksgiving with my son.
It will just be the 2 of us.
I think we are gonna hoop it up with some lobster tails or something goofy like that.
I like to cook so I think something nice and simple will do just fine.
I’ve always loved cooking Thanksgiving, but have been realizing a couple of things. Nobody in the family likes turkey. I always make way too much food. So we’ve scaled it down a bunch, might even consider going out to a restaurant this year.

I've never cooked a Thanksgiving dinner and I'm not about to start now. I would like to find a better place to pick up a pre-made TG dinner; the place I've gone to for years has gone downhill, but maybe I'll just do something else instead.
I know tradition is for turkey, but Honey Baked Ham is an option (of course, they have turkey, too). It is pricey, though.
I send one of my sisters the entire ham dinner as a Christmas gift every year. She feeds everyone and it saves her some work.
The holidays are a lonely time for many people. This is nothing new. The pandemic seems to have made this even worse. Suicide and depression rates skyrocket during the holidays sadly.
Helping serve others a Thanksgiving dinner at a shelter or community kitchen is a good way to balance out the feelings of loneliness and depression. Do something for others. It lifts you up. (unless you absolutely cannot take seeing others less fortunate than yourself)
Well given that they were on coastal Massachusetts, lobster and fish was most likely part of a feast. Wild turkeys are also quite common in the region. Not the turkeys we buy today. Ours are juiced up to grow to a ridiculous size in a few weeks.

This is a wonderful thing for folks to do!
