I hope they will continue his philosophy in the stores, I do enjoy shopping there, when I can get there.

Sad to hear this news. When I lived in Southern California, I lived close to the first TJ’s, in Pasadena, and shopped there frequently. Glad that they are all over now.

The business was sold to one of the family that runs Aldis in 1980 or so and they brought in their own CEO in 1987. So they have been running under the same philosophy for quite awhile.

It will probably survive. Aldi Nord, the parent company, is one of the largest supermarket chains in the world and is privately held. The founder has had minimal involvement in the company since 1988 when he retired. Trader Joe's has been part of Aldi Nord since 1979.
