Penn State University students and community members gathered at the site of a shuttered Taco Bell for a vigil mourning the loss of the fast food restaurant.

The Taco Bell location on E. College Ave in State College unexpectedly closed its doors permanently last week, leading Penn State student Prajesh Patel to organize the Sunday night vigil.

There are tocos in town, but they're probably more expensive.

Taco Bell "added spice to their life"...?? Sounds like a pretty sad place to live and attend college.

My thoughts exactly.. I know some people swear by Taco Bell but I have never understood why and as for the kids, well, it might be sort a cute to see this, but it sounds more like an attention getting activity. I guess it isn't as bad as a full blown protest.

That's the thing. Taco Bell isn't authentic Mexican (not even close), but many find it tasty. And, more importantly, its usually much cheaper than a standard taqueria.

While they are certainly the best for fast food tacos, I'm surprised that anyone would miss them that badly. We had one here in Sammamish, WA that was also KFC, right next to the entrance to the high school of 2,000 students. Nonetheless, it closed up a year ago, and is now a Dairy Queen. Meanwhile in nearby Issaquah, the Taco Bell was closed up for remodeling - over a year ago. The cyclone fence is still around it but there has been no sign of construction activity in about 6 months.
There are still bare areas with plastic on some of the walls. Appears to have been abandoned.

They are two different tastes. I do like both ... but not too frequently.

The one advantage that Toaco Bell has over many taquerias is that they are cleaner.

Have never had the pleasure of trying Taco Bell. Every time I drive past there's a line of cars going around the block.

That's my main problem with Taco Bell (and I do find some items very tasty). The drive thru lines are often overwhelming.
