What's the longest you've ever eaten the same thing every day for a meal?
In Guatemala, I went about three months going to the same market stall for breakfast -- huevos, frijoles, cafe con leche.
On my own, I would typically cook a meal to serve 4 or 5, then reheat every day until gone. Like a pot roast, or beans/rice, or curried chicken.
For lunch, I might order a pizza, and eat a slice a day for eight days. Reheating tip: On a wire rack in a cast iron frying pan. A spoon of water, get the pan good and hot, covered.
I can only think of leftovers from a dinner. I would say 2 days from the initial meal. I might eat the leftovers for lunch and dinner the next day or two.
We usually have last nights leftovers for lunch the next day. If there is enough for another dinner, I’m likely to freeze it and let a week or so go by.
Breakfast is usually the same thing every morning for about 2-3 years. Then one day I wake up and can't hack the food item anymore.
For awhile it was ground turkey microwaved with vegetables, topped with cottage cheese. Then for a number of years it was oatmeal with one scoop of vanilla whey. Then it was 1 slice Ezekiel toast and 2 eggs. Then the last 3 years it has been scrambled eggs topped with shredded fat free cheese and cole slaw. Now I have switched to hard boiled eggs chopped up and topped with low fat mayo.
