It's a problem I always seem to be faced with nowadays. I find myself hungry as all get out, but when I look around my kitchen, I just don't have a taste for certain things.

Such as right now for instance. My stomach is roaring, but when I look around my kitchen, I have to shake my head "no" to everything. In addition, I see some things I might be willing to eat, but then I have to think to myself that I ate that very thing just a day ago.

My default foods are toast with peanut butter, crackers and cheese, and fruit. When I'm hungry and nothing looks good I usually go with one of those. If I'm STILL hungry I get in my car and go buy something I really want.

eat something you don't like. There are two reasons to eat. 1) you are hungry, and 2) you find joy in it. If you are not finding joy in your food, simply fill the void with whatever you have.

My go-to meal in that case is cold cereal. Unless you know exactly what you are craving, it is useless to spend money on more food, when something you have at home will suffice.

I go back and watch TV until the next commercial break, and then try again. Sooner or later, you'll open that can of Spam or something.

Are you really hungry or are you craving something that isn't in sight and you don't know what it is?

I strongly believe that foods and cravings aren't just limited to taste. They take you back to a place that was memorable to you. Sometimes it speaks to something from your past that you are longing for.

Seems to me that how picky I am usually correlates to how hungry I am. If I'm hungry enough, I guarantee that something in my kitchen will be if not good then "good enough."

And pardon the sidetrack but somehow this reminds me of cat owners who talk about how their cat is "so picky" Put out some cat food, I don't care what it is, and sooner or later they will eat it. There aren't too many anorexic cats out there.

I get wound up in things (especially writing) and forget to eat. And I don't want to go and cook something. Having a partial digestive system this is a huge major no no. And it has to be the right food too.

I keep cerial I like, and yogurt I like and lunch meat. I'll get pot pies that can be made quick. If I am not hungry and don't want it but just need to eat I am not going to want to cook. Get some soup you really like. You can heat it up quick and add flavors if you want really easily. And its nutritious. If you body is saying EAT NOW it means it needs nutrition. You'll know the difference in how you feel even if you don't enjoy the meal.

What not to do is turn to something like ice cream, cake, cookies, candy bars and the like. It may give your stomach a bit of relief but in a few hours you'll be wanting more. And be way more tired.

My "go to" staple is crusty french bread and aged NY white cheddar and I ALWAYS have both in the kitchen.

I know what you mean though, I open the cupboards, the fridge , the freezer and stare at all the food and think "nah"

Wow, such good advice! ^ Me? I just start taking bites of things...if I don't like, I move on to something else. Usually, after I've taken a bite of about 6-8 things, I'm no longer hungry!
