My favorite Red. I have had many of California's best. Rosenblum, Renwood, Seghesio, Frank Family, D Cubed, Brown Estates, Rombauer, Cline, Ravenswood, and many others. Most of these bottle are at least $30 on up to $60 or so.
Many different vineyards within the same wineries as you might expect. All very, very good of course.
Yesterday while shopping at Costco, I noticed they have come out with their own "Kirkland" Amador County, 2007 Old Vines. So why not try it I thought. I've had their other signature wines and most are pretty decent. For $12.50 I figured what the heck.
I was absolutely blown away. One of the finest zinfandels I've ever had at any price. It's fruit forward but not overly jammy. And smooth as it gets. Absolutely heavenly to drink. And it's a real teeth stainer at 15.5%. It will knock you on your ass so be careful lol.
Seriously, if you're a fan of Zinfandel or big reds in general, you MUST try this wine. I'm going back today to buy a case. Because when the word gets out....
