My husband and I plan to move to Fort Collins next year but recently someone told me that, due to the recession, the city is in "dire" finacial straights. I can't find anything online that supports this - or refutes it. Can anyone tell me how financially fit Fort Collins is?

My family an I moved here an because of the recession you can tell that Fortcollins look like at one point it was building an doing good I had a realtor tell me it was like everything hit a brickwall,my advise is if you don't have a job lined up then I would wait,to move ,it is very laid back an it is alot of retired people who have money not alot for the younger generation to doan I am sure Fortcollins would not let you know, but yes you can tell "DIRE" FINACIAL STRAIGHTS

The report about financial straights is no doubt true. Most cities in Colorado depend heavily on sales taxes, which are way down in the recession. I think pretty much every city in Colorado is facing a drastic series of budget cuts until sales taxes recover.
