Didn't mean to touch a nerve. It sounds like you're ready to move back, and everything will be perfect for you.

You didn’t touch a nerve, just stated something about Loveland that wife and I knew wasn’t necessarily true. Then, when I ask you if you’d ever been to that rodeo or Livestock Auction, you didn’t reply.

Since we have a boat, lake fishing and boating, we can’t be all “Western-cowboyish”. Once we visit, we’ll make the decision on moving there or not.

Upon your return, you'll likely find the area different than you remember due to growth. However, Loveland is still smaller than the Parker and Englewood areas in which you have previously lived. There is still lots to love in the area.

After being raised in Fort Collins, I left nearly 30 years ago and was gone for 7 years. It was different when I returned, but we still love it for our lifestyle and family. We have been back 20+ years now.

My parents, who are in their 70's, ended up in the Florida panhandle several years ago but have recently been talking about a return to Northern Colorado after nearly 30 years in other places. (They were discussing it prior to last week's weather during which we were enjoying warmer temperatures here in Northern Colorado then they were having in Florida.)

Having just returned from a central FL trip, I'll admit being surprised in finding that FL is actually one of the largest beef producing states in the US. More ranch land with more cattle are there than in CO, surprisingly. But it doesn't feel very ranch like, compared to what I know of CO and TX. However, in a strange twist, even when in more remote areas, it seems we were never more than 10-15 minutes away from a town. Something I can't always say about many parts of CO and TX. The population density of FL is a very strange thing indeed. Even in that stretch of Ft Collins to Boulder to Denver, as populated as it has become, does not feel as dense as what I experienced in FL.

While FL and CO population may grow in comparable amounts in the coming years, the base number it originates form is much different, so the growth in absolute numbers will obviously be very different as well.

During the years we lived in Colorado (Englewood and Parker), we was in Loveland only once, and that was going to the Larimer County Fair. Neither of us was totally dressed in Western wear, but were wearing our Wrangler jeans, lace-up Ariat roper boots and I had a Centennial Livestock Auction baseball cap on. As we do at all Fairs, one of our first stops was the livestock barns and pens. We never went to the downtown area.

What we do know is.........Loveland's population is much lower than here, crime is the same way, not nearly the humidity that is here and, what seems to be, a much friendlier community than here. There is a winter there, but northeastern Florida can get pretty cold sometimes as well. A lot of folks here wear winter coats and boots here.......believe it or not.

If anyone in Loveland could visit here, or even have lived here, they know exactly what we are talking about. They wouldn't have to like Western stuff, like we do, but they sure see the difference between here and there. Perhaps, there are those that would like it here better than in Loveland. Could happen.

Boy, you folks are going to get mighty COLD later this week. Daytime temps won't get above freezing and early morning temps around minus 10...........and snow.

How do the Seniors there handle that? Pretty tough weather.

I'm wondering if the Larimer County Office on Aging Services might not be a better resource to help with your senior-specific questions about the area:

What about those folks who have Senior friends or family living in Loveland?

BTW, just looked at the website, neither of us need homecare or anything associated like that yet.

I believe there is probably a large senior population, at least in old town. There are several assisted living centers in the area, including Hillcrest, just next to my place, which is a very repeatable and well known facility. I see many of the members out and about in town walking year-round.

Funny, but we watched a couple of homemade dvd video's the other night showing things we went thru while living in Englewood/Greenwood Village and Parker.

A snow blizzard that hit in March 2003, where 90% of the vehicles in the apt. complex parking lot were totally covered in snow. I went outside the apt we had then, in Englewood/Greenwood Village and the snow came up past my knees. After the blizzard, a construction front-loader put the snow in piles so dump trucks could take it out.

Then came the 2006 Holiday Blizzard, when we had our house in Parker. That was during the week of Christmas.

Going to the Budweiser Plant, going to the Larimer County Fair, going to an Air Show in either Longmont or Loveland. Ranch Rodeo in Colorado Springs, the National Western Stock Show And Rodeo in Denver, CFD, Balloon Festival at Chatfield Reservoir and other things.

Had smiles on our faces as we watched the dvd's.
