Hey everyone, i'm looking for yahll to answer a few questions for me
about the Ft. Lauderdale area. I've been viewing this forum for a while
now at work and seen just about everything good and bad. I'm a very
open minded person looking to move to the ft lauderdale area in
december. I'm 22 moving from st louis with a friend, just ready for a
change. I'm curious if anyone has rented in the ft lauderdale area and
could recommend some good apartments/condo's with good location near
activities and the beach for younger people. I don't have a job lined
up but will be looking prior to the move. Looking to spend between
800-1400 a month for a decent 1br within walk/biking of the beach. I'm
also curious as if anyone has gotten a job on cruise ship or knows
someone who has and how they got it? All the sites i see displaying jobs
seem to be scams you have to signup for or need lots of experience. I
have lots of customer service experience, a degree in IT, don't
neccessarly need or want a job in the field, and some insurance
experience. From what i've read just stay east of I-95 or head west
into the suburbs to be safe, being near the nightlife/las olas area
would be a plus also, what area of the beach are the younger crowds
usually at or activity oriented beach spots? Thanks in advance for your
help =)

Hey, 800-1400 a month should be absolutely no problem. If you want activity, check out Hollywood east of U.S.1 near downtown Hollywood. That is excitement! You could also look basically anywhere in Fort Lauderdale east of U.S.1. Finding a 1 bedroom on the higher side of your price range should be positively no problem, and will leave you close to the amenities, but in a (relatively) safe neighborhood. If you really want to be safe, you could look into Plantation and Davie and still be within 15 minutes of all of the action, and still rent in your price range. I would recommend renting in a condo complex, or one of thsoe smaller apartment buildings rather than a managed complex. Those managed complexes tend to suck big time. If you have any questions specific, feel free to PM me .

I agree with above poster.. I used to rent a 2 bedroom on the Fort Lauderdale beach for $1400 a month (a couple or yrs back) so finding a 1 bed in that range is practical at this time. For job openings with cruise companies, try to hit their own sites as opposed to scam sites. You can also try monster.com or careerbuilder.com
