Just looking for an estimate of how much people spent to relocate. We are going from NJ to FL and its 1300 miles. Most rental trucks are unlimited miles so that probably doesnt matter, and they give you 5 or 6 days to make the move. The quotes from budget, uhaul and penske are between $1300 and $1900 for a 22 to 26ft truck and its looking like around 2k to ship 2 cars down. Does that sound about right?? We will probably need to get hotels rooms 2 nights so that another 100-200 bucks, we will need food and drinks, gas for the truck etc. So Im just trying to get an idea of how much this will run us. Anyone know from personal experience?? Any insight would be grealy appreciated.
Thanks!

I know when my parents moved down, my dad drove the truck and towed his car behind it while my mom followed him driving the mini-van. That's a good way to save money.

I second what Jimbo said ^

Also, as far as hotels go, I recently drove up to NY and we found some great deals using roomsaver.com

We were able to make it to NY only staying at a hotel one night. We made it to Florence, SC (which if I remember correctly was almost half way in between) and stayed at the Comfort Suites for 62 dollars and it is a very nice hotel with an awesome free breakfast in the morning. Felt very refreshed and ready for the rest of the 10 hour drive!

Also, if you stop at rest stations on the way down, check out the magazines they have near the newspaper stands, you can find really good coupons to help you save money while staying at a hotel.

Towing your car behind the moving truck will certainly save you money.

Just do not spend more than your stuff is worth, I know a couple of people who have done that.
