We want to move from New Orleans to the area to be near our children and their young family. We are seniors on a limited income but will have the proceeds of our nice home here to offset the purchase price or finance.
I hear there are condos for around 50k. What do you get for that price? Any advice is welcome. Have bad knees, no stairs. What about town houses. I do not want to be near the ocean, after Katrina the slightest wave or wind storm makes me nervous. No dogs. I figure the key is the financial soundness of the condo, Right? and of course the monthly fees and what they include.

There are thousands of 55+ condos all over south FL for 50k. Town houses are always 2-story, therefore stairs, and can't imagine you could find one for 50K anyway. You need to narrow your focus to a specific city, by asking your children where they think you should be.
