Hello all!! My boyfriend and I are taking a trip from New York to Fort Lauderdale during the second week of October. We are renting a house in Victoria Park and I think this neighborhood is really close to Las Olas. We are both in our early 30s. Can anyone recommend some really cool spots where we can hang out and have a good time without being bombarded with college aged people? LOLOL It's my birthday weekend and I want to have a good time. Thanks all!

Hey Wendalah - I don't think you have to worry about college-aged people bombarding anywhere in Ft Lauderdale anymore. It's just not that kind of place anymore. There are a ton of nice places on Las Olas with an older more sophisticated crowd. Any loser place wouldn't last there very long. What in your mind would be the ideal hang-out place for your birthday? On the sand? Live music? Table cloths with candles and 5 star food? Will you have a car?

Of course go to the beach. I like downtown Las Olas where there is a French restaurant and Kilwins - great candy and ice - probably the downtown area and the beach are best (both are very close to Victoria park)

My inlaws live in Victoria Park and when we used to stay with them it was a short walk to Las Olas and all it has to offer..plenty of restaurants...shopping...and people walking the strip at night...try this web site for things you might like www.sunny.org offers different things that you might be interested in...Happy Birthday...
