Hi! My hubby just got a job offer in Boca and frankly it's a bit out of our price range. We have been looking around Palm Beach County for homes and never thought to look in Broward. Are there any nice family friendly neighborhoods that are close to Boca?
Thanks!

Parkland, Weston, Coral Springs (the latter with caution).

Broward county is full of family friendly neighborhoods, just as or more so than Boca. With this said, where to look depends on what you like and dislike: close to the beach is an issue? gated communities ok? suburban feel or urban feel? with traffic or against traffic? schools? I think you had your answer to your question. Any refinement would need some more input from you.

Please name a bad area of Coral Springs. I know there's more random crime incidents there than the other two mentioned areas but overall the crime in Coral Springs is very low. Hell, the crime rates in Coral Springs are even lower than in Boca Raton, the area the OP WANTED to move to!Moderator cut: linking to competitors sites is not allowed, link removed

Default Look at Hollywood

look at Hollywood. 150,00 people, nice size, affordable and friendly with good culture and a hip downtown. A great beach with lots of cafe's, restaurants etc., Best bet...stay east of US #1 in the Lakes Area for terrific housing.
Hope this helps

Northern part of Coral Springs has some nice gated communities that are affordable. Agree with other posts suggesting you look at Parkland. There are some nice family-areas in West Boca in gated communities. Are schools an issue for you?

If the OP finds Boca to expensive Parkland or Weston won't work for her either.

To the OP-the family friendly areas of Broward tend to be expensive. You might try the Winston Park area. I am not sure if it is Coconut Creek or Coral Springs. It's pretty nice and a little less expensive than the other areas mentioned. Coconut Creek is a city with very mixed areas. Some are pretty low end, others are nice. The nice parts are a little less expensive than other family friendly areas. The nice parts of Coconut Creek are close to Boca.

If Boca is to expensive I don't think Parkland or Weston will work either. Weston is far from Boca. Coral Springs has some nice areas and has a broad spectrum of home values.

Look to the Sawgrass edge of both Tamarac and Sunrise. These areas are in transition and the market supports a good deal on houses.
