"Where the Boys Are" is still one of my all time favorite movies!
I was in the movie.

It was Robert Dressler who is responsible for killing spring break.

He is on Facebook and admits that he made lots of enemies in doing it!
(I still talk to him though)

I grew up near Pine Crest School in the late 1960's early 1970's. Pirate's World, Dirty Ernies, the Code One, Bob's Pizza Palace, the Promonade at Pompano Park, the Flaming Pit, go-carts at Sterling Rd., Oakland Manor Skate Rink, Gold Coast Skate Rink, the produce market on Dixie Highway near Cypress Creek Rd., etc. Deerfield Beach was nothing but palmetto bushes and sand dunes. Davie was horse country. I remember when they would open the Intercoastal bridges to keep the spring break madness at bay and I also remember the Northeast High crew hanging out in the parking lot at the corner of Commercial Blvd. and 18th Ave. (Eckerds Drugs?). Hey MrClose, you must have gone to the Federal Drive-In (now the Imperial Point Hospital). Does anyone remember the plane full of weed crashing into the condo under construction in Pompano Beach in 1973, killing both occupants?

The good thing about Ft. Lauderdale were terraced cafés on Las Olas just like Summers, quite fun and live music as I recall. At that time there was no SMB (it was some sort of Arvida Village but with decaying art deco buildings).

Spring Break was not nice, really, quite disgusting, maybe people remember those days with nostalgia. All that "cruising" in Las Olas was idiotic, good for a movie like Porky's or American Graffity.

At that time, the "outback" of Ft. Lauderdale, Davie, was quite wild, kkkish, a version of Porky's, somebody told me that all their former inhabitants are gone to some other chapter.

What was that magnificent radio station z4?

Zeta 4. And then there was Y-100, lol. Decent radio scene, IMO, back in the day. Both talk and music.

Default Waterworks Water Slide

My father built the Waterworks Water Slide. We opened it in the middle of winter and there were lines! People were shivering and sliding as hard as they could!
