Hi all

I live in Madrid and will be moving with my soon-to-be wife to Fort Lauderdale. I am 24, she is 32, and we have no kids. We looked at Miramar and all of its gated communities (among them Silver Lakes, Flamingo, etc.) online, and would like to be closer to the coast. Now, going into Fort Lauderdale obviously the homes are more expensive and condos are the only thing going less than $300,000.

Are there any respectable affordable gated communities in Fort Lauderdale with close access to Las Olas and the downtown? We don´t want to be deep into the suburbs, and want easy access to the downtown area.

I´ve been reading these great forums for a long time, and finally decided to post.

Thanks guys.

There are no gated communities near Las Olas/downtown FLL. You will have to go at least 10 miles away to find one.
Why do you want a gated community?

Well a high rise is the same concept in terms of security. You need to rent anyway so find a condo high rise with a gorgeous view and enjoy it while you look around for what it's really like, IMO. By then the prices will be even less.

I dont know, sorry

There is a gated community in the north eastern portion of Victoria Park. Also I think bamboo flats in flagler village might be gated. Both places are within walking distance of Los Olas. I don't know that you would find something under 300,000 yet though. Prices are falling but many places are still unreasonably high. If you are patient it will happen though.

You would have to come down and drive down Los Olas to find the name of that one area that gated alogn Los Olas. I know its on the North side of the street.

I don't think there are any. Along the coast I know about gated communities in Hollywood, and there are probably some north of FTL (not sure).

Aww can you give me the names of some great cheap gated communities in Hollywood? I read about Hollywood, one worry is that they say the downtown is nothing to die for. My first priority is a nice downtown area (preferably with nice restaurants and Subways sandwich =) but Hollywood is close to Aventura and some other less gritty areas.

You guys are great.
