At first I thought that hey, prices are rising so hey, why not. It's not a bad idea to sell and move up, either. Or maybe none of it is true. I've found so many holes in a certain posters stories to drive a semi through. Or, news flash, it could be the typical spring thing to do. People put up their homes for sale in the spring. The typical summer musical house game, especially for families.

But I like Kev's explanation the best. It fits.

It's still on the rise. No doubt about it!

This does not surprise me. Barring something happening, woot, there it is.

FBN reported today the biggest drop in home prices since the first quarter of 2008. Looks like the "dead cat bounce" is over.

I believe every market is different. Cape Coral was one of the 1st areas in the country to be hit by the housing bust. It's obvious that it would be the 1st area to recover. I know that home prices in my home state of NJ are still falling. If the housing stats on Cape Coral continue to hold, we should start seeing other areas in the US start to recover. I'm curious how Las Vegas is doing? They were also one of the 1st areas to be affected by the housing bust.

Just because it happened here first does not mean the area will recover first.
Swfl's economic development has lagged the rest of the country for a long time, Until there is more then just real estate driving the economy around here it will always be hit and miss.

The article did say at the bottom we were one of three states that saw an increase in value. Lets hope that it holds mister gray cloud over everything.

I don't know about you all, but I'm seeing a lot more new construction being built in the Cape. While it may not be an economic windfall. It's definitely light at the end of the tunnel.

I believe I read that the higher priced homes were now going into foreclosure. It is probably the homes value , better upgrades that is pushing the price of a square foot up to a higher level. More upgrades brings in more money per square foot in the market of real estate.
