My husband and I will be vacationing in Ft Myers from 12/1-12/8. What are some fun things to do? We are planning on going to the Everblades hockey game on 12/1. What are some good (not too expensive) restaurants? Any good zoos or aquariums nearby? Any "not to miss" things to do? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

They should list upcoming events. I highly suggest checking out the Holiday House at the Edison-Ford estates since it's all decorated for Christmas.

If you like nature, be sure to check out the Ding Darling Wildlife Center on Sanibel Island -- actually, just a day spent on the beach there is cool.
If you are into the performing arts, Ft. Myers has lots of local theatre groups, one that immediately comes to mind is the Barbara Mann.

I second the "Ding" Darling Wildlife Refuge and Sanibel and Captiva.

Thanks to everyone for the great ideas! We plan on spending a day on Sanibel, maybe we'll check out Ding Darling. Are there any really good restaurants that are maybe off the beaten path and not real well known to tourists?

There are small deli's & restaurants scattered throughout Sanibel. Not so much in Fort Myers; mostly chain restuarants though Cheeeseburger in Paradise is a great hamburger place.

If you're out on Sanibel, you have to check out the Bubble Room. It's a staple. It's pretty expensive though so maybe you could just get dessert. They have an awesome red velvet cake!!

If you get a chance to go out to Pine Island, check out Sandy Hook. They have really good seafood.
