Hello, I have a friend coming down with her grandkids to use our house and they would like to go on some kind of boating excursion to watch for dolphins and such. Any recommendations? Does Matlacha have anything?

Thanks!!
Angela

When my wife and I were down in April, we took a ferry from north Pine Island (Jug Creek Marine..I think) to Cabbage Key for lunch and then to Cayo Costa State Park and spent the afternoon on the beach. It was very nice and we saw a few dolphins along the way. Reasonable price. If you Google Cayo Costa you'll find out more.

We did a dolphin cruise based out of South Seas Plantation in Captiva - a ton of fun with lots of dolphins!
We also took a sunset cruise one evening, and then had the same captain ferry us to Cabbage Key the following day. I believe his name was Captain Tom, and he launched from the Pineland Marina on Pine Island. He had an ad in the local paper. The sunset trip was awesome. the captain was extremely knowledgeable and gave us a good little history tour before the sun went down.
Bottom line is you can't NOT have a nice time on the water down there!

There is also a boat cruise that is connected with "Ding" Darling on Sanibel.

Took a dolphin tour out of cape harbor that was very enjoyable - saw a good number of dolphins and the skipper provided an educational narrative.
