Hello everybody. I am new here. I have tried several apartments in Fort Myers and they have unbelievable income restrictions. It does not make a sense because; for example, I see 1 bedroom apartment for myself having $550.00, I can afford it and still have a nice lifestyle (not dry) but income restrictions do not have any sense. It is technicality they use so everybody plays by their rules. Does anyone know apartments without restrictions in decent neighborhood. I can pay up to $700.00 one bedroom or studio. Your ideas will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Most of the nice ones I know of make you income qualify as well as pass a background check. So many people ruined it for everyone else that they are now very careful about who they rent to.

Most places requires your income to be 3x the rent to ensure that you can actually afford the place. What you think you can afford and what you can really afford and usually two different numbers.

And if you're finding places that cheap in Fort Myers, you dont' want to live there!!! Heading further south, the areas are nicer and safer.

welcome to sticker shock of SWFL. section 8 (In Naples) is $900 a month.. The rest of us pay $1200... Ft. Myers while not at the prices Naples is will creep up as more and more people can't afford to live here and move northwards. With the crime Ft. Myers has I wouldn't be looking at anything affordable.
