Pretty sure most AC units would freeze up trying to keep a place at 52F. Actually, I'm pretty confident they would...

Holy moly! Many of you keep it very warm ... 78 .. 80 ... 82, etc. I've always considered "room temperature" to be 70. I have gotten used to 72 or 73 to save a little on the utility bills,... but, I would find it to be very uncomfortable for sleeping above 75.

I would wake up swimming in my own sweat at 75 lol

I live in CT now and was raised here. Personally I like the temp between 65-70. When I was in FL I kept it at 72F to save on utilities. 72F was borderline uncomfortable for me.

For those of us that have been here long enough for the blood to "thin out", 78* is plenty cool.

Myself, working outside most of the day, 80* with the correspondingly lower humidity is quite comfortable. 72* is getting downright chilly.

It's all a matter of perspective, of course.

I'm going to assume that you already know that it is factually incorrect that your blood "thins out"

Your body adjusts and learns to tolerate the temperatures. I was there for about 5 years and the only thing that changed about me was learning to not complain as much. I promise you I was consistently uncomfortable though. At no point did I feel 78+ was comfortable.

But I'm from a polar opposite cold region... So I think it is heavily dependent on what you grew up on. I know there will be people who grew up in cold and always hated it, they of course will be an exception.

Originally from the Detroit 'burbs. Yeah, I hated it. The cold too.......

I do know blood doesn't thin, but one does "acclimate"

When I lived there, I would be outside, washing the car in shorts and a T shirt on the first spring day it hit 40*. By the time it falls to 65*ish here, I gotta get a jacket.

Like I said, perspective.

In keeping with the theme of the thread, it should be noted that higher humidity has a distinct effect on the "feel" of the temperature. Hot feels hotter, and cold feels colder as the humidity rises.

even though I am originally from the northeast (NH and Ma) we very rarely had AC growing up. the most comfort we would get on even a 90 degree day was an electric fan. In Florida I keep AC on 78 degrees during the day but turn it down to 72 at night to sleep. I do find walking into a 78 degree house during the day after walking from 92 degrees outside to be very comfortable. I usually have to bring a sweatshirt with me if I go to a restaurant because they crank the AC too much.

On OCCASION, most recently this past week, my inside humidity is up like that, especially when the outside humidity is approaching 100%. As I type this now, my gauges show inside 78 degrees and humidity 45%. Outside 87 degrees and 66% humidity. We keep the thermostat set at 78 degrees and humidity is normally below 50%.

82 inside? Ugh.

66% humidity is too high. Check the ac to see if your fresh air switch is in the on position. If so turn it to off.
