I stated I've never been there I'm just trying to find out what the area is like? I recieve from my realtor a service called "listing book" their service listed these statistics. It sounds like this info was prior collapse info do that recently many section 8s have moved in! My realtor advised me not to look there, a friend I have in Sarasota has advised against Lehigh, now the input from this forum advises against Lehigh! But for a 25% less price is at least worth looking at! Yet this does not fit my investment purposes!

You'll find homes you can rent in your price range there.

If you go with Olympia Pointe, check for Chinese Drywall. You won't have to worry about it as much in Sherwood.

With the city of Fort Myers there's a Lehigh address?? Dont' think sooooooo...maybe within the unincorporated area of Fort Myers. Apples and oranges.

Anything remotely close to Lehigh is the ghetto.

DO NOT RENT OR BUY IN LEHIGH!!! Yes, I was yelling at you

Only slumlords invest in Lehigh because the only tenants youll find in Lehigh are sec 8ers and very low and low income families that live like pigs and slobs. :::shrug::: it is what it is...a dump.

You're wrong. They're within city limits. Here's a capture from the Fort Myers zoning map.

Gateway, however is in unincorporated area.

Can we end this once and for all?? gateway is not part of ft myers, gateway is unincorporated lee county. This is exactly the same as burnt store marina. burnt store marina is in unincorporated lee county , it is not part of cape coral. I believe it uses punta gorda on address even though it is in a totally different county. mailing address does not make any difference.

Bcharles: Listen to your friend, realtor, and the other posters on this forum!! They are telling you the truth. If you insist on Lehigh, then why are you asking others for their opinion? Lehigh has taken a huge hit in recent years and will take a very long time to recover, if it ever does.

Whether you are looking for an investment property to rent out, or a retirement home for down the road, you will do much better in Cape Coral. The prices have gone up quite a bit in the past year however, so don't wait too much longer! You can still get a pool home that may need some updating in the $150,000 range. Good luck!

I don't think anyone said Gateway was a part of Fort Myers.

Ok.... I posted a few years ago on this thread. Does anyone have any opinions...good or bad about Principia Garden Villas. Looking to buy one to rent out. I know the area very well but don't know the association. Would you live there? What kind of people live there? (meaning family/retirees/singles)
