Hi all. I'm thinking about relocating from Seattle to Dallas/Fort Worth area. If so, I would probably live in North Richland Hills, and commute to Dallas, either to Gallaria (Mall?) or the Northpark Shopping center.

If you are commuting to the Galleria and especially Northpark Mall I would not live in NRH. The commute will be brutal. Maybe up to 1 hour to Northpark.

My advice is to plan your residence/commute to avoid I-635 (locally called LBR Frwy) which is a total nightmare. I have been rear ended 2x on that road b/c traffic can change from 70mph to 0 mph in a heartbeat and it seems am rush "hour" is 6:30am - 10am and evening is 3pm-8:30pm. Traffic is always backed at all times headed east from the I-35 interchange to Josey --- that's a long stretch and then again around the 75 interchange.

Would also add North Irving to your list the Valley Ranch area, nice apts and good central location
And Also Addison would put you in a good location.

Looks like most of my concerns about your commute have already been answered, so all I can say is please don't bring your rainy Seattle weather with you when you come down!

We live in NRH and my husband used to commute to north Dallas. He did not travel at the height of rush hour, but at the beginning. It took him around 45 minutes in the morning (to be at work at 7 AM) and about an hour to get home (getting off at 4 PM). It was a horrible drain on him after doing it for a long period.
