My family is planning to move to the ft worth area next spring. She is originally from the dwf area. I keep reading one extreme to the other how good the job market is. I don't have any degrees, I have been railroading for the last 7 years and have manufacturing experience. I'm curious what the job markets really like and the economy in general now. I see all the jobs on indeed and monster, it looks like alot of bs jobs and marketing to me. My question is if there are many jobs for a regular person that pays descent? People in the area know more than I can find on the Internet so any help on where maybe to start looking when the time comes would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

BNSF Railway Company - Reduce transportation spending by using BNSF's reliable intermodal service
If you have railroad experience, I would definitely apply here!

check the texas workforce commission site--
those are more likely "real" jobs than the ones on Monster..that is just job churning for the most part...

why are you moving here?
Your wife working?
Where do you plan on living?

What does "decent pay" mean?
TX is not a union state -- it is a right to work state and most jobs are non union--many jobs pay less than national avg

One suggestion for possible job--
read an article that said welding is seeing growth and needs people for jobs
this is something that would be in demand in TX because of the o/g industry...if nothing else
you might consider seeing if you can be retrained as welder via programs with TX Workforce Commission
