I've never been to Fort Worth but I'd choose the Fire as their name.

Other than the reason I stated, since you've never been here... how come?

I never saw this poll. An obvious choice would be the Longhorn. But I can see how that would cause some confusion with UT.

Fort Worth Vipers

The 'viper' is a unofficial nickname for the FW built F-16 fighter jet.

The name chosen, I chose it because I've read the hot temperatures are prevalent in the DFW area. The MLS team gave up a cool name, so I suppose if another team can take up the name.

How does the Fort Worth West sound? "The Mavs will be facing the West tonight." Armadillos, Venom, Rattlers, Chisholm.

I don't know about "West". That sounds like it would be better used for some semi-pro league team.

I had a friend in high school who said that if we had an NBA team, they should have a snake name. It would fit as long as it wasn't a tropical snake or anything like that.

I agree. Fort Worth has a very western feel to it and we tend to associate rattle snakes and tumble weeds with the west. Probably do to all those western movies. It would be a good fit for Fort Worth.
