I'm looking to move to a house in this area. I am getting out of a high crime (burglary) area and the last thing I want to do is go to another one. Been all over google looking for some good statitics and was lead to this forum. Can anyone help me? It appears to be a nice quiet neighborhood, but then again so did this one.

The neighborhood is so very lovely as are the homeowners.
But it seems the long term residents are starting to leave?
Crime has definitely become an issue there and it's very sad to watch the decline.
I used to take my son to the pond and playground there.
Now I no longer feel comfortable enough for his safety.
The least of which was broken beer bottles in the play area.

Hello to the Forum. I am a new member SamKelly. I am single, 60'ish and have lived in Dallas for over 30 years. I am looking to buy my first home. I work near Arlington, so Fort Worth would be a good place to commute from.

I have spotted some homes in CandleRidge that look nice and have well manicured lawns. The homes sure look nice on Google Street view.

I do not want to move to a heavy crime area. Many of the posts on CandleRidge like "avoid" or "gangs" are a few years old.

So my question is, in February of 2017, is there any positive changes going on in this neighborhood crime wise? Thank you in advance.

I lived near Candleridge 15 years ago. The area has had a major change in demographics.

When we were looking to buy a house 18 months ago, I looked at a few homes. I was not impressed with any of them. The ones redone were sloppily done, the other needed total updating.

My son went to Southwest High on Altamesa and that entire street is very, very sketchy now.

When we returned to Fort Worth, my son said "don't even think of buying a house south of I820" and boy was he right. Crime, shootings, trashy yards, lots of run down rentals.

I would go north. If you have the money, the Camp Bowie and TCU areas are still decent.
