FORT WORTH
Fort Worth's Meacham International Airport, off Main Street about five miles north of downtown, is said to be in the running for a new passenger airline being considered by the founder of the low-cost carrier JetBlue.

According to Airline Weekly and Forbes, David Neeleman, who started JetBlue in 2000, is looking to raise $100 million to start Moxy Airways and Fort Worth's Meacham Airport, Hollywood Burbank Airport and T.F. Green Airport in Providence, RI, are among the potential airports to get the service beginning in 2020.

Neeleman, who left JetBlue in 2007 as its CEO, did not speak to either publication.
Neeleman was also involved in Morris Air, WestJet Airlines in Canada and Brazil’s Azul SA. Airfinance Journal also reported that Neeleman has secured orders for 60 CS300 aircraft from Canada’s Bombardier Inc. The planes can seat 100 and 150 passengers.

We all know it's only a matter of time before FTW is the largest city in N.Texas so it's past time for Meacham to open up again fro scheduled commercial service.

I live north of 820 and I can only imagine the increase of noise. Bad enough for small planes that get a charge out of fly-bys (very low) over my development.

You wonder if they would use Meacham, would they consider using Alliance?

When Alliance was built, it was strictly for cargo only. Here's a link to a 1990 Chicago Tribune article discussing it:

Alliance is cargo and a lot of training. Yes, there was a runway expansion a couple of years ago but the infrastructure for scheduled passenger flights - where would you put it?

There's a lot of open land at Alliance adjacent to the tower and across the runways from the tower. That said, I see Meacham being used for passenger service because it already has limited infrastructure in place to support passenger service, it has the room to add the remaining needed infrastructure with the current redevelopment project, and the location splits the difference between the growing north, west, and southwest areas of Fort Worth and Tarrant County.
