I am seeking some help. I am in the process of accepting a new job in Hurst. I do not know the Dallas/ Ft Worth Area. I would like to find an area that offers upscale restaurants within a commutable distance to the offices in Hurst.

Therefore the question is if you are a older single man, that enjoys going out after work to meet people, where should he live?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Check out Downtown Fort Worth. Short commute to Hurst.

I personally would get an apartment near your job, then take your time to look around the area to see what you like.

Or perhaps even a hotel in the area for at least a couple of weeks so that you wouldn't be locked into an apartment lease for 6 months. You could also live in Hurst and it's not that far from areas with a real night life like Fort Worth or Dallas. Downtown FW is 12 miles away, and downtown Dallas is about 20-25 miles.
Personally, I'd like to live closer to work because traffic in the area can be kind of nasty. But, off the top of my head if I were a social butterfly (which I'm not ) I would probably live in DT Fort Worth and make the short commute to Hurst if going out every night was my thing.

there is not a real "night life" in Hurst that would compare to cities like Dallas or FTW (much less Tampa, LA, Chicago)
---Hurst is basically a family town although I am sure there are plenty of singles who live in the area older and younger because I worked with them--we have chains like Outback, Olive Garden, Chili's, Fuddrucker's hamburgers....

"Upscale" restaurants are in Colleyville (about 10-15 min away)--JR's SteakHouse, Bois na Braza, Silver Fox, Ruggeri's Italian. I think 62 Main closed...there is a Gloria's which has central american cuisine ....and Cafe Italia which is local and really nice although it is in strip mall location

Southlake has several upscale--Buca di Beppo (which is chain) Kirby's Steak, Anamia's Mexican, a nice fondue one I can't name, Macaroni Grill in Grapevine..and PF Chang's

Most people go to restaurnts to eat--if you are using that to meeting people you probably mean bar traffic---some of these restaurants have bars where people are obviously just drinking and not waiting for tables (the Bennigan's by NE Mall seems to have bar like that)

but you are probably looking for places to meet people like sports bars--Hurst has Lonigan's and Bronco's--which apparently get lots of use according to their liquor sales--there is Gator's sports bar in Euless and La Hacienda Ranch, Chili's and Bennigan's in area with their bars...PF Chang's bar always seems to be crowded but maybe more because of restaurant overflow...

I was surprised to see that the Applebee's in Colleyville which has bar with people usually in it and drinking when we went for dinner during the week closed this month because their bar did not do enough business...

think there are lots of couples who go to these sports bars and single guys as much or more than single women--

There are many bars/restaurants in downtown FTW where they are building condos like crazy now w/new Trinity Riverfront development---people were going to Sundance SQ before they started condoing the downtown and guess they still are--does lots of couple traffic as well as singles...

North Irving has area in Las Colinas with restaurants/apartments/bars where I think singles congregate--that would be reverse drive since most people from Hurst area are going INTO Las Colinas in morning and AWAY in afternoon but 114 is busy road most any time of day...

lots of traffic on Airport Frwy into FTW in morning or coming our of FTW in morning--many people live in FTW and drive to Irving or Dallas for jobs but it would be a short commute in distance if you were in downtown FTW coming to Hurst--there are couple of back ways you could come which would not involve freeway driving

If you have taken the job in Hurst--ask the people where they live and what they would recommend...
