I just found out that my kids switched from Worley Middle School in Mansfield to Bailey Middle School in Arlington.

As I am the father but do not have custody of my children, I had to invoke Texas Family Code 153.073(a)3 to get this information.

I don't know anything about these two schools.

If the reason was because Worley is crappy and Bailey is wonderful, that might explain it.

If not, then it must be something else (eviction, etc.)

Thanks!

Unless you've given up parental rights or had a crappy lawyer, it should have been included in your divorce decree that your ex be required to inform you of changes like that. She wouldn't have to get your permission, but she should have to inform you. At the very least your kids should have told you when you had them for your time this summer, if they were aware things were changing. However, that's a whole separate matter from the difference between the schools, which I have no personal experience.

I do suggest you do some research starting with the district website, greatschools.net, and measuring up - Measuring Up

Those will at least give you basic statistics for comparison.

Then check the police department websites for crime stats in the area to see about safety issues.

Of course it would be much simpler to just communicate with your ex to find out the reason they changed schools.

Thanks, I will check out the statistics. Coming from a statistics background, I always read these things with a grain of salt but will read them nonetheless.

Regarding divorce, the woman has the response of a brick wall. Once I get some $$$ I am going to sue for custody. In a month, two of the three kids will be 12 years old and that means they get to state an opinion of who they would rather live with.

It was a horrible divorce that took way too long and cost way too much money, so now I am doing damage control.
