I'm not sure why they built the third Wal-Mart which is between Winchester and Front Royal (where they just built a Wal-Mart less than a decade ago.) The second Wal-Mart on Route 50 in Winchester also more or less serves Hampshire County WV whose main industry is "commuting to Winchester."

I'll have to check out the stuff on 26 one of these days ... my wife doesn't regard driving around checking out new development to be entertainment, the way my dad did/does (and, as it turns out, I do too.) It won't be this weekend. :P

My wife and I moved here in January -- Bethesda natives originally. We live right next to Rt. 40 on Mt. Zion Rd and I have to drive the Golden Mile to seemingly get anywhere in Frederick. I was really hoping they would do something like they did on Rt. 26 but it seems that WalMart was the only taker.

We attended the most recent presentation by the developer last week and did appreciate the lengths they went through to make this a more "upscale" Wal-Mart, if only in appearance. The many green spaces, and walking trails, etc. might be good to kind of revitalize 40.
