I just chose my own energy supplier, in a effort to save on the electric bill. Hopefully it will help this summer...
I went with North American Power. I know there are more out there like Ambit, Constellation, etc. Does anyone use NA power? I should be switched over in about a month.

i am leery of such things since they advertise via pyramid scheme. i think "ignite" or something was the company that tried to run their b.s. on my dad
Agreed. I think that the idea of deregulated energy is great, but using multi-level marketing is actually hurting them more than helping. Most people view MLM as a scam, primarily because it has gotten such a bad name from companies like ACN who charge people to "become reps"
However, NA power is the cheapest electric rate I could find. And I only wanted to become a customer. Their pyramid marketing idea is more like a bonus, where you don't have to pay to join or any of that ****. Any customer can refer others, kinda like referring people to your apartment complex or something.
This is why I wanted to know if anyone else has had any experiences with them or other companies. I did some research and NA power was the only company I found that had positive reviews.
Yes. Here's how I chose mine. I went down the list of 800 numbers, and after 60 seconds of hold and menus, I hung up and went on to the next one. The first one that I talked to a live person within 60 seconds, I signed up with them.
In Some States you can pick who provides the power, Different companies have difference rates.
You 'local' power company still provides the power lines to your house, They get paid to transport the power provided thru the grid, from your choice provider, to you.
The choice companies can sometimes be cheaper, due to the contracts they have with the makers of the power (maybe them, maybe they buy it from someone else on a long-term contract). Some cost more, maybe because they are 'green' power, they only buy 'green' power but it may cost more to 'make'. The put X MwH into the grid to provide power to you. The actually power coming into your home may not come from a green source, but overall someone on the grid is getting it, so you 'sort' of are using green power, in theory its reducing the non/green power on the grid.
