Don't delete, or don't live frugally? It's frustrating to read everyone's good efforts to save a few dollars here and there, only to have trillions blown by politicans. It's not even real. Why don't we all just run up huge debts and go into bankruptcy, like some state governments will?
My state of Wisconsin is trying hard to balance its budget, which is being threatened by some groups. It made my day the other day to get milk at Aldi for 2.19 versus the $2.49 I had been paying elsewhere. I'll be saving, like, $30 a year. It's a huge dichotomy that makes me wonder why I should even try. What is the national debt per person? Tens of thousands of dollars? I can't even conceive of a trillion dollars, can you?

Don't live frugally if you don't want to. That's a fair and reasonable choice.

I'm all for borrowing money as long as creditors are willing to lend and you don't default. The government still gets a good rate from lenders and has not yet defaulted.

Living "frugal" as an individual is absolutely ridiculous in a society controlled by a government that:

01 prints additional fiat money every year that devalues the purchasing power of money that has already been stored or saved.

02 allows through a disordered tax code to let a small percentage of the population (5%) increase their total wealth annually while paying a lower tax rate and creating a myriad of complex schemes to shelter income and evade taxes

03 confiscates wealth from the working class to pay for subsidies to corporations and welfare and social services for people below the working class

04 aftifically increases the money supply through incredibly loose and irresponsible credit policies (via the Federal Reserve) and in some cases makes surviving through the use of credit (debt) an almost unavoidable act in an economy where objective economic principles are ignored.

05 maintains a tax code and IRS enforcement rules that arbitrarily control social classes and social stratification in such a way that classes develop with rigid structure, leaving someone unable to climb out of his own even with hard work, saving and careful planning.

06 increases it's laws, regulations and level of control year by year and suffocates aspects of individual freedom that even with alot of money, a person in America now is bound by the dictates and control of cowards and frauds in Congress and any regulatory agency he might be unfortunate enough to have to deal with

07 gives money to any and everyone based on their "need", leaving someone that might not need government assistance forced to work and work hard only to see their money taken away through progressive taxation to help pay for his neighbors that produce nothing.

08 allows people to incur and rack up massive debt and never have to pay it back due to chapter 7 bankruptcy "protection."

Because our government will survive - but we might not.

Never seemed that easy to me.

Trust me---if the government goes busted, things will go a lot easier for you if you have economized yourself. If the government goes busted, your creditors will still come and seize your assets, and there won't be any government to even pretend to give you a modicum of support.

We live frugally so that excess money piles up and someday working is an option, not a requirement.
