I'd be too embarrased to ask some stranger for their food but I think it would be sanitary if you put it in the microwave before you ate it.

These are the people who don't want to take the food home. I always ask if people want a to go box. Its not like the food is bad, people love the food where I work. I just dont understand why they waste perfectly good food.

When I used to go out to eat I would take home any portion I wasn't able to finish and eat it for the next meal. Why would someone waste money, time, and effort by not taking it home?

I once went to lunch with co-workers to a non fast food restaurant. I got a hamburger and it sucked. I could only eat about half of it. As we were leaving a co-worker asked if I was going to get a to go box for the rest of my burger.

I said no, it was dry and shriveled up now, how bad will it be when I get home in four hours?

He takes ketchup packets from fast food places and squeezes them into a ketchup bottle so he doesn't have to buy ketchup. He even stops into places and gets packets without buying any food.

He once gave his wife flowers. she thought that was nice, until she saw a sympathy card inside and he admitted he got them from a trash dumpster behind a funeral home.

When they eat out, he asks other diners if he can have food they aren't eating to take home with him. He said about 90% of people do give him their food.
Does he travel to those fast food stores by car? Gas?

Food from others? Health issue.

There is frugal, there is cheap, and there is mentally ill. This guys is somewhere between cheap and mentally ill. I am also surprised he managed to find a woman who'd tolerate this kind of... eccentricity. All in all, I suppose good for him as long as he is happy, but personally I would be afraid of being a cheapskate like that, I'm all for being frugal, living within means, not wasting stuff, etc, but I do not want to be worried about a dime of grape vines, I simply do not want my day to be ruined because I couldn't save a penny.
