My tomato (well, one of them, in particular) has been looking especially disgruntled as of late. at first i thought perhaps a nitrogen deficiency, so i gave a little fertilizer. nope, didnt fix it. then i thought over or under watering. tried adjusting that, nope, the problem persists. Bugs maybe? sprayed some pesticide. still no good. HELP! i want some maters! actually, there are a few small green ones i noticed when i was taking pic.
and for good measure, my cucumbers are looking pathetic too. Ive never had a problem with growing the same varieties of plants, in the same locations, in the past, so im stumped as to what i can do ...the main tomato plant that seems to have issues is a big boy (the only one of that variety i have) and the other, smaller plants don't seem to be having as much as a problem, though ive noticed some yellowing on those leaves, just not as bad.
ok, after fighting with the pics (theres 5 total i think on this page)... you can click on the thumbnail and be taken to a full size pic but beware, they are big and detailed so it takes it a minute, but youll be able to better see whats going on.
and the cucumber seedlings that look mighty sad, as well...
You may have developed a problem by not rotating your plants around the garden. Next year switch their locations. For this year? Is it possible you may have burned them with fertilizer?

ill never say its NEVER possible.. but its unlikely. they pretty much looked like that before i gave any fertilizer. Last year i had shisho (which is a japanese basil) where they are but they overseed so much i decided to didnt want them there anymore LOL, the year before that i think it was tomatoes and regular basil, before that, sunflowers (that the deer ate)... and the cucumber, although in the same pot and location, has all new soil

How has the weather been? Both tomatoes and cucs will look sad and even die off if it's below 50 at night for more than a day or two. We usually wait until mid-May to plant but this year we still can't, coldest late spring in at least 20 years.
If you have this problem, tent them with clear plastic to keep in some heat.

doubtful. it hasnt been consistently hot enough for that to be an issue. usually if i have problems with my plants and the heat, its not till august when we get heat waves close/around 100 for weeks at a time...
no one knows whats wrong... WAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
I went out and bought more tomatoes and more squash and planted them over the weekend. I decided if one of the ones I planted earlier died then I have a back up plan. Go get some new ones, Lowe's has a fresh batch of veggies that you can pick from, I got 4 more just in case :-)
