I am putting in a raised bed and a sprinkler. I wonder if I should put in a spray to sprinkle the foliage and the soil or just a soaker type system?

The problem is that there is no ONE best way.
Different plant types at different stages of growth and at different times of the season have very different watering needs.

Yes all these may be appropriate and probably some drip heads too.

I have a soaker system in my raised bed and it works out very well. Sometimes I also just spray the garden with the hose and that works out fine too.

I've used drip irrigation for years. It works well with raised beds.

Most watering needs to be done in summer ...
So my swamp cooler has a bypass and the water that comes form there is used on my raised bed veggie plots via a drip system.

I do have a *roof* over the top of the beds (similar to screen door material).
It keeps the plants form *frying* in the hot sun.

Just happens that I live in hot dry climate and swamp cooler is mode of whole house cooling !

That is great. I have a lot of passive watering around my house, but this garden is not near a building. I think I will just have raised sprinklers since I like the sound it makes and its more like rain.

Has the OP considered hugelkulturing her raised bed so that it retains more water deeper at the root level?

Interesting, but is the bed useable while you are waiting for the wood to rot?
