I'm trying to grow potted asparagus and I noticed that the roots are extremely long, so long that they protrude up even from a large pot when I cover the pot with soil completely. I was thinking of getting a huge pot for them, but I'm not sure that they will even grow. I read that you can grow it in a pot, but does anyone have experience? How big of a pot do I need and how much of the root do I need to cover? Thanks.
My asparagus is in raised beds that are 2 feet deep. Then the roots could grow even further than that, if they wanted to.
So, not a plant that I would try to grow in pots. Except, it is possible to grow fruit trees in pots, so maybe asparagus can be managed. It would take a very large and tall pot. Because it takes years to get a crop, that means you won't want to be moving the plants and root pruning,, so maybe one of those air pruning pots would work the best
