I've lived in the SouthEast PA for 7 years and I just found this spider in our house. Its so big and I'm so scared of spiders. I've never seen such a big one here before. When you zoom in you can clearly see hairs and eyes and fangs
Please don't tell me they're common here and that I've been lucky never to have encountered one before!
I looked up in my spider book, it looks like a type of orb weaver. They eat bugs. Is it about 2 inches with the legs? It also looks sort of like a fishing spider.

If I am not mistaken, those are very non aggressive. Generally orb weavers will weave huge webs, hence their name. For the most part their bite is the worst part. They are a very important spider to the ecology system. Just shoo it outdoors or capture it and put it back in the woods. I am not sure which one this exactly is, but here is a link to two different spiders in your area, that this looks similar too.
It looks to me like a basic, ugly spider, just like most of them. I am a spider hater, but not as much so as hubby. I know they can eat insects and do a lot of good, but please, Mr Spider, just stay away from me. I really don't trust any of you.

This is what some of my clients want me to do to spiders in their landscape. I keep telling them I'm not the Orkin man.
