If you do go for a climbing rose, I would recommend "Don Juan"
.
I just picked one of these babies up at Lowe's for $5.00 and I think I'm going back for more!
It's a nice color red with an
amazing fragrance - like a rose should be but hardly ever is anymore, y'know?
The blooms are big and long-lasting and the stems are sturdy. No blackspot so far. It's one of the recommended climbers for Florida.
Another good climber (and you'll need a trellis for any of these, of course) is "Iceburg". It's white, smallish blooms but lots of them, light but nice fragrance, and also very hardy.
Other good camouflage:
Palmettos: some get 8 feet tall or more at maturity....low to no care and a tropical look
Oakleaf Hydrangea: Year-round interest and color and also low care since it's a native
Confederate Jasmine: Will cover anything that doesn't move!
