We've always had birds fly into our picture windows as well, especially the north facing one. We too had the imprint of a dove once, which was being chased by a hawk, they both hit the window. Both of them left imprints with wings spread, and both died. That particular episode was very upsetting to me. I have wanted to try a decal, but I hadn't seen one I cared for, I will look into that link, thank you for sharing it.
Darn it, I just checked the link and it doesn't work.

My 'bat' stickies were bought at Halloween time. The other birds I received through the Audubon Society many years ago. You could get some sheets of the sticky material and just cut out the silhouettes of birds. Good luck. I'm sure craft type stores would be able to supply this type of material. Hmmmmm, I hope so.
Just had this happen to me. Our solution for over Christmas was to hang my son's cutout snowflakes. He was chuffed as punch seeing his artwork up on the window and the birds were too, I think I've since hung little decals on the windows and it's working.
