It's the most beautiful that I've been to. I've been there many times, starting in early childhood. Have many fond memories of the place. Not only are the gardens gorgeous (my favorite--the Japanese garden), but the art and book collections are not so shabby either.
well, the Huntington is certainly a wonderful and world class garden with significant collections of various plants (the succulent collection is astounding) and the art and architecture contained within the garden are exceptional. OTOH, the San Francisco botanical gardens/Strybing arboretum in Golden Gate park also has lovely gardens and plant collections and nearby art collections as well. Balboa park in San Diego has IMHO marvelous buildings and plantings and finally quite near the Huntington, the L.A. county arboretum in Arcadia has great landscaping and gardens featuring beautiful and diverse collections of plants from throughout the world. my suggestion for the lover of beautiful places and beautiful and rare plants is to consider seeing them all to enjoy their various and sundry pleasures and then make their own decisions at to which is "best".
