There is an old tree outside my windows, I rent. It's not the healthiest tree but it had leaves and bloomed every year. Lately, there has been landscaping done and the landscaper put this block of wood at the base of the tree and after several weeks moved it to the other side of the tree. I noticed that the bark is looking gray and brittle, the leaves are dying. Am I nuts to think this block of wood has had some effect on the tree? I really hate the thought of this happening as it is a "high occupancy squirrel tree".
