Any idea what it is? It buds little white flowers, have no idea how to take care of it or how to trim it. I actually hate it but it's blocking my water meter. What is it? Below

The first picture looks quite a bit like an oleander. Second picture, is that the same plant? It's leaves look more broad and lighter green.

The lightness is due to sunlight hitting it. It's a darker green. I looked up an oleander and although the leaves look similar this thing doesn't really flower too much..

Looks like some type of laurel to me. Possibly Cherry/English Laurel.

The only privet I know of around here has a shorter, more roundish leaf. Privet did cross my mind tho.

Definitely not oleander. Oleander has large flowers.

OP, has it already flowered? It reminds me of sweet box, but I didn't think there was a sweet box that was hardy enough for NYC. There are several kinds of sweet box that people grow. They all have small white flowers which are very fragrant, bloom from Jan-March, and produce dark berries after flowering.

Here's some pics - Sarcococca hookeriana | Sarcococca | Sweet Box | Himalayan Sarcococca| plant lust

Some kind of cherry laurel would be my second guess.
