We have been in this house for one year and working on the lawn to remove weeds and get it looking good.
We are in NW Virginia with Fescue grass, had the soli tested and treated it with the products recommended according to the test results. Lime, starter fertilizer and a Broadleaf Weed Killer.

Weeds are dying to some extent ( have clover, mlack medic & used Turflon Ester to kill it ) and the grass is under stress due to the heat. I Was told to hit it hard in the fall, which is said to be the best for fertilizing and the first fall application is a Weed and feed product, Scotts, then a Late fall Winter Guard product by Scotts.

Question is, if I use this product I cannot overseed or plant new seed at many of the bare spots, so what is more important, to seed and ignore the weed killer at this point in time, or use the weed and feed and try to re-seed in the early spring??? Thanks

Yes, fall is your time to fertilize and really only time.

I would avoid so called Weed and Feed products. Do one or the other, but avoid two in one products.

All you wanna know can be found here. //www.city-data.com/forum/garde...awn-block.html

Avoid synthetic nitrogen and the spring and summer.
Apply a lawn fertilizer around Sept 1, another application 6 weeks later, and a 3rd application 6 weeks later.
Spray by spot treat weeds as needed.
Seed late August...avoid seeding in spring...roots never have a chance with summer heat.
