The last time there was a 3x brood we owned acreage in Inwood WV. Our property was bordered by the Opequon Creek and Threerun creek.
When they emerged we had all manner of critters dine at the buffet all day long. Racoons, possums, beavers, weasels, birds out the wazoo- you could walk amongst them and they were unfazed- they were busy gorging themselves.
The only other time we saw that was after a flash flood had our lower property under 3' of water, and when it receded there were THOUSHANDS of crayfish stuck on land. It was like a flash mob of animals for the afternoon, lol.
Here in Virginia they are in full force covering grass plants in any kind of surfaces they can find. Soil temperature is 74° with a high of 90 which is perfectly primed for their crawling around.

I saw yesterday on my phone about a photographer, Ocana Ware, around Arlington, that had photographed the little darlings in human situations. At the beach, on a firetruck. I couldn't see pics too well, having eye problems. You may want to check it out. Looked kinda cute what I could see.
And for Threerun, also saw something about cicada tacos! Lol not sure where those are.
